Our lymphatic system plays a vital role in our health and well-being, and in particular works as our body’s immunity and defence system. It plays a critical role in draining fluid and reducing swelling, and maintaining our body’s fluid balance. 

As movement teachers we have the ability to directly target the lymphatic system through movement. Understanding the specifics of how to do this effectively can be life-changing for clients, and very rewarding as a practitioner. 

In simple and effective ways, Marisa teaches an overview of surface anatomy & physiology and functions of the lymph system, as well as practical assessment techniques that can be integrated into movement sequences. 

Participants will learn how to effect tissue drainage and fluid balance and clearance from tissue spaces to blood system; how to locate and target lymph nodes and ducts, how to identify inflammation vs oedema, and how to put all this good information to best use with applied exercise sequences to target the lymphatic system with every day clients.

Marisa is an incredible practitioner who’s skills were well and truly honed as a principal physiotherapist at a major Sydney hospital, seeing patients every day across the breadth of injuries and conditions, at pre and post surgery stages, acute, chronic and every version of.

Her knowledge and skills are exceptional and with her Diploma qualification and ten years Pilates teaching, these combine to make her one of our few “go-to” practitioners for movement health. 

This Lymphatic Stimulation workshop, using Pilates as a tool for creating healthy lymph movement and systems function, is delivered so clearly and efficiently that participants easily work the strategies and repertoire sequences into their existing teaching.
