We pride ourselves on offering personalised, tailored classes and programs for all of our clients, which is why we choose to keep our classes small. Outside of our Private and Semi-private classes, we offer REFORMER, HEALTHY HIPS, STRETCH AND RESTORE, STRONG BONES AND BALANCE and MAT classes. All of these Small Group classes have a maximum of 6 people in them so that we can ensure you get the level of attention and instruction you need no matter what your fitness or experience level.
A Reformer Class provides a whole body workout with all the benefits of weight-bearing exercise while increasing fitness and strength, improving flexibility, as well as muscle endurance, posture and balance."
One of the original pieces of equipment designed by Joseph Pilates, the Reformer is popular with good reason. The carefully calibrated springs provide tension which in turn gives you a whole body workout with all the benefits of weight-bearing exercise while increasing fitness and strength, improving flexibility, as well as muscle endurance, posture and balance.
The flow of a Pilates Reformer workout, and the endless variations in exercises and routines make each and every session fun.
At XEN, we keep our classes small so that you get the most out of each and every workout. In each Reformer class we have a maximum of 4 clients so whether you have existing injuries, are a a beginner or are wanting a challenge our experienced instructors are able to adapt and customise the exercises for you.
In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see a difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body" - Joseph Pilates
Our Strong Bones and Balance class targets osteoporosis, osteopenia, bone density, balance and general overall mobility.
This very popular class is structured to help you gain confidence and strength in your body by improving your balance and bone density.
Looking after one's bones is not just about building the healthiest bones possible, it's also about making sure the muscles that protect and help to move those bones are strong enough, mobile enough and provide sufficient balance to help us protect those bones.
While weight-bearing exercises can assist with bone density, that's not enough. Maintaining a good posture will ensure that our bones are loaded the way nature intended, and building stability and balance will go a long way toward preventing falls and the potentially bad bone breakages and fractures that follow.
Pilates is the one form of exercise that address all of these issues, which makes it ideal for young and old, fit and unfit..and essential for anyone with osteoporosis and related conditions.
The classes are fun and enjoyable and target all the essential muscle groups in order for you to get stronger and see real results in improving your balance. With no more than 6 people in a class, you will get a focused, purposeful session that uses the full range of traditional Pilates equipment - not just the reformer.
Come along and give our Strong Bones and Balance class a try - your body (and bones) will thank you.
Weight-bearing exercise without pressure on joints
Our Healthy Hips class focuses on hip mobility and correct muscle recruitment. This not only protects the joint, but also significantly reduces or eliminates the associated pain.
Hip pain is a common issue amongst most adults – irrespective of age, health or fitness level. In fact some of the back and leg issues we have are also related to our hips.
Unlike most other joints, the hip needs to recruit and coordinate four sides ..all of which are major muscle groups-- in order to move These are hamstrings quads, glutes, and abdominals. Our bodies naturally try to compensate for a weakness or imbalance in any of these by relying on the “strongest member of the group”. This leads not only to instability in the hip and pelvis but also very often to over extension which causes pain in the hips and other parts of the body.
This class is suitable for those who have had hip replacements, those who are preparing for or concerned about future hip replacements and those of us who end up with pain in our hips or back because of the tightness of this joint.
Mat Pilates is a low impact, full-body workout that uses your own weight as resistance to tone every muscle in your body, improve flexibility, posture, endurance and even fat-burning.
Mat Pilates builds long, strong muscles because of the very specific way each of the exercises is performed. It is a wonderful way to improve stability, balance, flexibility, endurance, fitness, oevrall tone and that wonderfully stress-relieving mind-body connection.
A flat abdomen is one of the most talked about natural results of Mat Pilates because the exercises all emphasise core strength and correct skeletal alignment. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, learning how to effectively use those deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back not only teaches you how to draw on your body's "Powerhouse", but also how to do so without injuring your back or over-using the wrong muscles (the most common cause of pain and injury).
Our Mat class are graded so that you build your strength and ability before progressing to the next level
